Artist Statement

In my practice I meditate on human understanding of the physical world through affective ritual with self and other bodies within space. I spend time observing the physical construction of public and private spaces and their cultural implications. What I notice about the material and semiotic qualities of these spaces I mimic and manipulate in my installations. I collect and reinterpret refuse, to question why we structure our lives and surroundings the way we do. Personal rituals, habits, reveal not only a lot about the identity politics of the individual performing them, but the relationships within a larger cultural and physical climate.
